I have quite a lot of personal experience with child development. I worked for over 7 years as a nanny to several different families, caring for children from infancy up to 12 years old. I have not only done the basic day to night duties of watching these children but often helped with homework and did all types of sports and after school activities with them.
In college I was focused on getting a degree in either art or child education. Ultimately, the art side won, but that was after taking a few classes in early childhood education.
In working towards getting my own business up and running I have taken several training courses in infancy and child safety, a child development course, and Neurodiverse Child training. My business requires a lot of interaction with families and children. Knowing how some kids can be uncomfortable in certain situations, I wanted to make sure I had all aspects covered in order to work well with all of them and reassure their parents I have things under control.
My ultimate and continuing experience has been with my own children. Both have IEPs through NBCS and both entered preschool early at 3. I have been working with the school and our doctors ever since. Through trying to figure out everything going on with my own children I have done some intense research into many things that can cause learning difficulties in children (I'm not a fan of saying disorders or disabilities, they are all part of the child).
I am extremely organized. I keep lists and notes in order to stay on top of all my duties, from household to budget and appointments to critical decisions. I will make sure I am prepared to help in all decisions for changes and improvements.
I have been told that I am a great listener and a logical thinker by many people. I WILL listen and take everyone's concerns seriously. I am not always great at answering on-the-spot because I like to take time to think about all sides of an issue in order to help with a resolution that works best for all.
In past employment I have worked in a variety of teams. I understand the importance of having different opinions and views in order to continually make improvements and avoid going in a single direction. I have been in lead positions as well as follower positions and have never had problems working together with others.
I tend to research topics if I get stuck on a specific issue. Doing so helps me acquire more information in order to give decent input. I will keep an open mind to others' opinions and ideas. With all of these together we can work to problem solve any decision we face.
